At 15, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is already making Indian domestic cricket history look surprisingly easy.
Batting for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone in Bengaluru, the teenager raced to fifty off just 42 balls, reaching it with a six. That made him the youngest player ever to score a half-century in the Duleep Trophy, breaking a record that had stood for 57 years.
He didn’t stop there. Sooryavanshi kept attacking and finished with 92 off 81 balls, missing a century by just eight runs.
What makes the story even better? A day earlier, he had briefly stepped in as East Zone captain after Ishan Kishan left the field injured. During that spell, he also backed a successful DRS review that brought an important wicket. Read more
