Facing World Championship challenger Javokhir Sindarov in the second round of the Sinquefield Cup, the Indian grandmaster spent most of the game locked in an even battle. Then came the opening. Sindarov slipped on move 82, and Praggnanandhaa immediately took control, calmly converting the advantage before his opponent resigned 13 moves later.
The win takes the 20-year-old to 1.5 points from two rounds, putting him in a five-way tie at the top.
